Amanda - Reflection on Pueblo Cliff-Dwellers

I thought it was really interesting how we looked at the Pueblo's cliff dwellings. One thing that intrigued me was how connected they were to the stars and the land around them. For example, we saw in the documentary we watched in class how one of the villages was more like a watch-tower. And at night, they would send smoke signals high in the air to another camp roughly 30 miles away. The documentary showed how the villagers in the other camp viewed the smoke signals as a symbol to start their ritual.

One question I had was how the Pueblo peoples know that the star would perfectly line up between the stones? Especially because it only appeared on one day throughout the entire year? What was their culture like within the city walls? Why did the other camp/village need permission from the watch tower to start their ritual?
