The rock art at Djulirri was fascinating to me. As I think about it, I come up with more and more questions. How were the natives at Djulirri so incredibly talented at capturing the ships, even hours, days, or weeks after having last seen them? I don't know if 90% of modern artists could capture that complexity, even having seen a reference more recently -- It's a testament to the artistic skill and memory of those Maung artists to see those ships' designs represented so clearly. I wonder if it's possible to identify, based on other records, which specific ships they were depicting. I know it's possible to gain a lot of information based on certain features of a ship -- the position of the masts, the shape of the sails, and the materials used for the hull, and so on -- so, given the quality of the natives' drawings, perhaps it's possible to identify specific ships by name! I think this could be a fascinating project for someone with enough maritime knowledge...
